How to play a tournament on PokerStars

To play in a poker tournament, select the tab “Tournaments”, “Sit & Go” or “Events” in the PokerStars lobby. If you select any tournament these tabs, information about the tournament in the information box on the right. In the Status column, look for a tournament that is in “Registering”.

Along with the Status column, find the details of each tournament, including game type (Texas Holdem, Omaha, Stud), Structure (limit, no limit or pot limit) and the entry. Double click on the state “Registering” a tournament or click on the “Tournament Lobby” to open the tournament lobby window. Click the button “Login” and login if you have not already done so. The client must confirm your registration. It will show you your seat automatically shortly before the start of the tournament. Check the lobby screen where you can register as seats are available.

Note that all satellites and multi table tournaments, table seats are assigned at random when the tournament begins. As is customary in poker tournaments are not allowed to change seats. The button in Texas Hold’em tournaments and Omaha will be assigned to the seat 1.
As in a regular game of poker, when it comes your turn, you can check, bet, raise, call, or retire (as applicable). You’ll see another button called “Time Bank” when it is your turn, and is shown after receiving a warning from time to chat window. The time bank offers players more time to decide an action during a tournament and go exhausting as it is used.

Another difference between the interface of the tournaments and cash games interface is the Info tab of the chat window. This tab shows your current position in the tournament, plus the amount higher, lower and middle sheets of the other players. The Info tab also shows how much time you have left on the bench in time. The tab “Stats” provides statistical information on all your performances in the tournament.

At any time during the tournament, players can check the tournament lobby screen for information about the development. The lobby displays the current limit level of the tournament, information about how many chips the players and the breakdown of the prize pool. A good tip for the poker tournament lobby to consult frequently to monitor your own progress.

In the tournament lobby will also find a search function for players. The tournament lobby is also displayed to all players and double-click the user ID (pseudonym) of any player or click on the “Gamer” get updated information on that player of the tournament. Once the tournament has ended, the winners will receive an e-mail with all the detailed information thereof. Anyone can request a tournament history once finished in the main lobby if you go to “Tournament History” from within the “Applications”. The information completed end of each tournament will remain in the lobby for several hours after completion.

View a poker tournament or table during the game

A player of a poker tournament can observe any other table by double clicking on that table in the list of tables in the tournament lobby or by clicking the button “Go to table”. Players who do not participate may also observe any of the tables in the tournament.

Tournament Dollars (T $): an exclusive PokerStars
As the website leading online tournaments in the world, PokerStars are delighted to bring its extensive system of tournament dollars. When you qualify to play an event through a satellite (excluding the events of $ W, on which we’ll discuss below), have the option to cancel the registration of this event and receive tournament dollars (T $). These dollars of tournament can be used to register in any other PokerStars tournament or a combination of tournaments, including Sit & Go, special events and satellites. If you win several seats for the same event, their value is automatically credited to your account T $. Tournament Dollars differ from real money because you can not use real money games. Can only be used for tickets to tournament poker.

To check your account balance by T $ at any time, go to the Cashier window from the main lobby.
W Dollars (W $)
In addition to tournament dollars, we also offer special W $. The W $ can be used to register for any qualifying special PokerStars event.
The current special poker events are:

By winning a seat in one of the W $ special event, such as a seat at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure in the Bahamas, you will play in this event and you can not cancel the registration. If you win several seats in the same event, their value is automatically credited to your W $ account. If you win a satellite seat for a W $ special event, you have the option to unregister from the satellite and receive W $. The W $ can be used to register in any W $ special event.
To check your account balance W $ at any time, go to the Cashier window from the main lobby.

Note: In some cases you can not remove yourself from a tournament record. If so, please send an email to PokerStars support team, to support@pokerstars.comTo cancel your registration in your name. Be sure to write from the e-mail to your registered PokerStars account and include your user ID and the tournament number you wish to unsubscribe.
