Phil Ivey was raised in NJ which was where he developed his skills and he started his career as a professional poker player. Ivey made his first appearance at the World Series of Poker at age 23 when he beat Phil Helmuth and Amarillo Slim in the pot limit Omaha event, he continued his successful path in next year 2002, when he collected 3 more WSOP titles.

He has also won 2 Bellagio tournaments he has landed on the final tale of the WPT and other smaller happenings. His career as a professional poker player flourished in 2005 when he landed on 2 WPT final event tables and secured second place on the WSOP circuit event.

His first boosted payday was in Monte Carlo when he received $1,000,000 for finishing in first place at the Monte Carlo Millions tournament. In the year 2006, Ivey collected 3 honors by the All In Magazine the Bluff Magazine and the UK Gaming awards which all named him Poker Player of the year.

Phil has received second place in the Omaha Hi-Lo and the $50,000 HORSE event of the World Series of Poker back in 2006 boosting his bank balance by $800,000.
In 2008 Ivey secured his first WPT Championship, taking away the title of the LA Poker Classic. It was Ivey’s eighth appearance on a WPT final table, and his victory moved him into the 10 on the all-time tournament money list.
