Howard “The Professor” Lederer always had a passion for chess, after completing his college degree he had moved to New York as he felt he wanted to become a professional chess player. It was in a chess club when he played poker for the first time and it that was when he realized that poker is his game.
The discovery of his poker passion lead “The Professor”, in playing the game 80 hours a week for two consecutive years heading him towards great financial losses. He had deleted chess from his system.
Following his route Lederer came across the Mayfair Club and become a member of a team who were experimenting with NLT. They would play from 4 in the afternoon till 2 in the morning and then discuss the day’s game. All the players were slowly developing in to aces.
In 1993 Lederer felt he had a strong game, so he moved to Las Vegas in an attempt to make the most of his talent. His pattern improved and he slowly started earning titles. His first victory was with the Hall of Fame when he won the $2,500 NLT Deuce to Seven Draw.
After a series of hard work for five years he won his first two gold bracelets in the $5,000 Limit Omaha Hi-Lo event at the 2000 World Series of Poker. In the following year he secured his second bracelet at the 2001 World Series of Poker.
In Fall of 2002 Lederer won his first WPT title at Foxwoods and in spring of the following year he stricked again with another win on the WPT championship of the Poker Million cruise. “The Professor” continued his glorious root with 3 Bellagio titles in the $2,500 No-Limit Holdem game that took place in the 2003 Bellagio 5 star World Poker Classic.
His largest payday was in January of 2008 when he won $1.25 million after securing a win on the $100,000 buy in event of the Aussie Millions.
