Daniel Negreanu

Daniel Negreanu was born in July 26 of 1974. He has developed to be today a professional poker player with four WSOP braceletes and two WPT Championship titles plus an award for poker player of the Year in 2004. Daniel Negreanu was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada after his parents had left Romania in 1967 looking to build a new beginning in the US from the then Communist society of Romania.

They ended up in Toronto instead, where his father Constantin Negreanu found a job as an electrician. Negreanu started off as pool player and at age 15 he started to play poker, he was soon spending time in pool halls, playing cards and betting. Negreanu soon dropped out of school and became a professional card player at local charity casinos. While living off his life as a professional poker player he met Evelyn Ng, who eventually developed to be a professional poker player too.

Once Negreanu built up his bankroll he took off for Vegas at age 22 on seek of his luck. In 1997, he won his first two events at the World Poker Finals at Foxwoods, making himself $55,064 as well as being named the tournament’s best all-around player. Negreanu glory was just beginning as he won an additional $169,460 at the $2,000 Pot Limit Hold’em event in the 1998 World Series of Poker, becoming the youngest WSOP bracelet winner in the history of the WSOP until 2004.

He was named the WSOP player of the year in 2004 and World Poker Tour player of the year in 2005. Upon opening, the Wynn Las Vegas resort recruited him as their “Poker Ambassador” to play for any stake in their poker room. In June 2007 Negreanu signed with PokerStars, joining Chris Moneymaker, Joe Hachem, Greg Raymer and many other poker professionals as a member of Team PokerStars.

His poker site, “Full Contact Poker” was transformed to a poker forum community like poker extras and his traffic was redirected to PokerStars. Negreanu has played poker live on various television shows such as Late Night Poker, Poker After Dark, and High Stakes Poker, as well as serving as a commentator and stand-in host on Ultimate Poker Challenge.
